Communion with Jesus

06-07-2020Weekly Reflection

Corpus Christi Sunday is officially called the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. In the Gospel (Jn. 6:51-58), the listeners of Jesus were not prepared to accept His condition for true life, for eternal life. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever… unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.” It is an unfathomable mystery, but something we must believe and live in faith.

The essential point of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi is His desire to be united with us and to continue to live in us. Corpus Christi is Communion with Christ.

1. Real Communion and not symbolic, it is His real presence in our midst even now. An invitation of communion in the past, present, and the future.

“We remember how you loved us through your death (past), and still we celebrate, for you are with us here (present), and we believe that we will see you when you come in your glory Lord (future), yes we remember, we celebrate, we believe!”

-Our communion with Jesus in the Eucharist should make us better and more loving persons. A communion in thought, word, and deed with Christ.

2. Communion in Spirit in this time of quarantine Every day since the start of the quarantine we have been praying for all of our parishioners, frontliners and all the vulnerable. Through our prayer chain, we were always updated of the many sick, bedridden, CoVid19 vulnerable, and the many affected by this pandemic, financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. People who are asking for simple prayers, inspirations, and hope. Unable to be physically present with them, we have been in communion with them in the Spirit, through our Daily Bread and Meditative Music, live Rosary, and Mass. To help our parishioners and everyone out there, to feel God’s love and be inspired to live another day in spite of their pains, sufferings, and challenges. Help them feel God’s presence.

-Communion through our smile > simple sincere and assuring smile

3. Communion in the suffering Sometimes, God reveals to us His presence in a profound qualitatively way in sufferings. The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? Sufferings should lead us closer to God’s heart, and make us realize our dependence on Him, and lead us to trust Him more. Suffering could lead to God’s grace in a deeper way, to love Him more in a humble and sincere way. It is said: The Way of the Cross is when our journey to God’s heart really begins and takes on a new meaning.

Jesus, help us to be in communion with You and your people, as You are with us.
